This and that. Back pack buddies. Because I tend to clean often, my back pack, as well, observes such treatment. What I carry in my pack is a much better representation of me than searching through my trash can(it all ends up in a dumpster, anyway, with the entire apartment buildings old crap)---> [ALSO: because of my "neat" tendencies, I tend to throw away things that I realize I want/need later. It is this backwards tendency that makes a search of my trash somewhat useless. You'd think I don't want or need a number of items which, in fact, in a week or so, I might want. Or need.]
I don't like to take a lot of things. I don't like a lot of weight on my back. I don't like excesses. But... I do like to have what I need when I need it. Because of that, when I'm preparing to pack my bag, I stop and think a second about what I may need during my day--> what would prove useful. Usually the only considerations are: Will I have time for reading/writing? (i.e. downtime) What is expected of me where I'm heading? Is there something a particular person would be interested in interacting with?
After answering these questions, I fill my bag accordingly. I use discretion so as not to over pack(though I often do, anyway).
Because of this method, when one searches through my bag, they will better understand me as a person through my "essentials." Most often I will carry a sketchbook or notebook of some kind, quite often I will bring a small book for reading material (lately I carry back pack buddies, which are really just baby wipes, and I do so because I bike everywhere and it helps handle the SWEAT), and then whatever else is usually that which is asked of me upon my arrrival at destination (notebook for class, DVD for friendly viewing, etc.)
